December Writers Workshop
with Shelly Miller
Dec 12, 2018
7pm-9pm  $20 in advance /$25 at the Door
all materials included
For December’s writing workshop, we’ll combine the love of words with the love of paper craft to create small paper books—books that open like roses and/or books made from playing cards.
You don’t have to be a writer or an artist to enjoy this class. We invite all who love words to join us. Bring your favorite short poem (one you’ve written or one written by someone else), or a short saying or note. We will have typewriters available or you may want to hand write or pre-print your poem.
Adults only please. Space is limited to 20 participants, so please reserve your spot soon.

About Shelly:
For personal artistic inspiration and growth, Shelly Miller has participated in numerous local art league drawing and painting classes, including drawing workshops in Italy and Guatemala. Professionally, Shelly has facilitated multiple youth community art projects in collaboration with local artists and artisans, supported by local organizations such as the Alexandria Commission for the arts in Virginia and VSA Florida programming.
As a high school math  and art teacher, Shelly infused lessons and projects with creative expression and art making whenever possible. Shelley has 10+ years of experience facilitating art making sessions for groups of all ages from elementary school groups to older adults. Through her five-year journey earning her Master’s degree in Art Therapy, Shelly had the pleasure of working with a wide variety of populations including youth at risk, children diagnosed with epilepsy and their siblings, older adults diagnosed with dementia, and healthy adults interested in engaging in creative expression for fun and personal growth.
